What is the phased implementation plan for the NWRTC?

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's location and well-established relationships within Washington State and the Seattle Urban Area Security Initiative have resulted in a concentration of early activities in Washington State. Collaborations and relationships have also been formed with Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska. The Northwest Regional Technology Center (NWRTC) will continue to expand its activities with these states and extend them to Montana and Hawaii.

What is the long-term vision, and where is it on the timeline?

The center is at the inception stage of development, with funding and operations supported by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and project funding through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). At its maturity, center operations are intended to be funded directly through DHS, including allocations to support coordination between state and federal agencies at regional and national levels, and an active partnership would be firmly established between the center and regional stakeholders.
